Pianist Maasa Kato lives in New York City and is a flagship member of the Jazz Ensemble. She has released two large ensemble works, "The Ammon Tree" (2016/SCOL1014) and "Soluna" (2023/SCOL1064). She is highly acclaimed as a composer and arranger, but she has also garnered attention in the New York jazz scene as a pianist, having been selected for the bands of Takuya Kuroda (tp) and Remy Le Boeuf (sax), among others.
This album features colorful compositions familiar to the ensemble, performed in a piano trio configuration. The result is an album that offers the bouncy energy and dynamism that only a live recording can provide. We hope you will enjoy the repertoire, which has a different look and feel from the ensemble, and Maasa Kato's pianism to the fullest.
